The Morning After

Well how do I feel the morning after playing my first rugby game? Well dehydrated, have a scratchy voice, sore from head to toe with concentrated soreness in scrummaging shoulder an random bruises. All that assessed I am very happy that nothing major was injured or what injury I have wasn't aggravated.

Post game plan. I am trying to figure out how to hyper hydrate. I drink h2o all day and especially pregame day and post game but not a whole lot during the game. I'll do some research. As for the whole body soreness, I am going to have to fit in a run today to push all the lovely lactic acid out of my muscles.

Short and sweet. I gotta go get breakfast to start my recovery day right!

Rugby Anyone?

Well played my 1st rugby game today and it was fun. What would make it better would be more fitness. I played well considering. It's controlled chaos and aggression.

On some level I feel alive again. I don't know if it's that I have something that's mine again or what. Heather and the kids were there were cheering, the kids were cheering Heather was knitting and trying to stay warm. It was in the 60's today but yesterday in was in the 90's.

Our next game is is next Saturday with two practices during the week. My plan is to work hard there and get some running and weight training in as well.

Anyway I am whooped and need my rest for the Irish Festival tomorrow with the family.

Test Driving The Blog

Here goes. To sum up the purpose of this blog I would say is to express random thoughts, ideas and personal interests. My current personal interests are unfortunately politics- the national variety, rugby- which I have had an interest ever since I visited Australia in 2005, JEEP stuff (What Heather calls it) and this cyber connection movement.

My status with the politics is that I am currently undecided and Heather's mind is already made up for the Dems. I as of late have been voting Republican but the current state of affairs with energy, economy and foreign affairs has got me rethinking everything.

The official rugby season starts for me Saturday and I love it so far. There's been some couch potato injuries i.e. shin splints, pulled hammy and strained calf that's reminds me of the good old days of yesterday. The bonus is my body is returning to a good state of fitness- the dropping of body fat and increasing lean body mass. Another good thing is it's a social opportunity as well. I am meeting NEW people in Rochester and share a common interest with the world community.

My Jeep Unlimited is one of the best lifestyle "Things" I have purchased. The weekend drive with the top and doors removed can't be beat and the family is excited to hit the road while blasting Radio Disney. I have been off-roading with the stock vehicle and want to do so much more but that takes cash that I am spending on the family. One day, probably when it's paid off, I'll have the time and the dough. There are just toooooo many cool things to modify your rig with.

Lastly, cyber space connecting. I am a recent fan of Facebook and with that I have reconnected with childhood friends, school friends and friend of friends. It's a GREAT tool to connect. Heather is now a fan where as before she made fun of me. Now she updates her status more times a day than I do in a week. Maybe I should recommend Twitter for her for just that purpose. Hopefully this blog will reconnect me with others that have been lost over time and provide details of my life for those who are interested. Please feel free to comment and share your thoughts and insight.

Well that's all for now.
